CURRENT WIP FILE: Improved ED-209 AI/Weaponry (now uses gatling gun/rocket combination instead of only rocket volley), new map02 demonstrating conveyor belts feature, new death sound, new ED startup sound. The work in progress (WIP) files are exactly what they say they are: I stop whatever I'm doing once a week or every other week, make a file containing everything I've done up to that point (unless whatever it is that's not done crashes the computer if it's included incomplete) and post it for everyone to see and use. The WIP files are presented to you as-is and no warranty is given or implied in their working with your doom engine on your pc (or Mac). You use the WIP files at your own risk. WIP files are self-contained resource directories (kind of like ZIP files) and have no permanent effect on the contents of your hard drive including your Doom runtime files. They may however crash a game and/or temporarily lock up your machine. If this happens to you please let me know what error occured and how and I'll attempt to correct it if needed. Please be aware that there will be graphical and audio bugs in the WIP files due to the resource files not yet being completed. These are a natural side-effect of the development process and should be for the most part ignored. Actual gameplay problems, such as getting stuck in walls, falling through an otherwise solid floor, and anything else that makes it impossible to play the game should be reported. Suggestions in how to improve the gameplay are always welcome. The WIP files are here so that you know where I'm going and so you the player can provide timely input as to where to take this TC. Most of the WIP files are multi-player ready: Both players need to be running the same engine and same version of the WIP file. A tutorial on how to use the WIP files in single and multi-player games will be posted shortly as well as full installation instructions for those that have never played Doom (or have forgotten how to use DOS.) EVENTUALLY a launcher program specifically for RoboCop Doom will be released. This will be an actual executable file that will enable you to load the game from your operating system without too much hassle.

PREVIOUS WIP FILES: Build 5: Sprites, Sounds, Graphics Levels (2) (958K, zipped) This WIP contains a single playable level on MAP01, a partial level on MAP02 (no deathmatch or co-op starts, no exit, mostly a graphics demo of a "familiar" RoboCop location). Graphics replacements include the status bar, status bar faces, in-game letters, intermission and title screens. Four sprite replacements in-progress are visible: RoboCop player model (front and firing only, temporary graphics) ED-209 (most frames) a flying droid (all frames), and a "virus entity" (most frames). The Auto-9 weapon replacement for the pistol and chaingun is present with sounds. The status bar faces are present, damage frames are incomplete. Build 5 will become Build 6 next week as a new level is added. Other assorted graphics and sprites replacements may be visible at this time. |
